  • 20:30 I kveldsetun "Late Night concert" with FUNN - traces of Sámi music in Valdres

    I Kveldsetun in Aurdal Church.

The work FUNN was a commissioned work for the Jørn Hilme festival in Valdres in 2010. Composer Frode Fjellheim inspired the archaeological excavations at Rensenn, where several layers of use phases were revealed - including one Sami fireplace. Fjellheim lets the Sami musical expression stand at the heart of FUNN, but explores the meeting with other traditional music from the area. The work has joik, Valdresspringar, harding fiddles, droned zithar, billy goat horn, reinforced with modern rhythms, classic violin tunes and not least a team of musicians of top international quality. Parts of the work has names like glow and blacksmith - suggesting music that is both firey, hot, warm and beautiful.
